Squared Chess is a chess puzzle game that combines block placement with chess piece movement. Drag chess pieces onto a 10×10 grid using their unique movement rules, then clear filled rows and columns to score points.
You’re dealt a random hand of 3 chess pieces. Drag one onto the board—the piece fills squares according to its chess movement rules. Pick a direction (if needed), and the piece is placed. Fill complete rows or columns to clear them and earn points. The game ends when no piece in your hand has a legal placement.
Each piece moves like it does in chess:
The blue squares show you where the piece will fill if you select that direction. They update as you drag the piece across the board so you can see exactly what will happen before you commit.
Yes — before you pick a direction, tap the origin square again to cancel and try a different location. Once you confirm a direction, the piece is placed and cannot be moved.
Fill an entire row or column with pieces (all 10 squares), and it automatically clears. You earn 1 point per square placed, plus a bonus: cleared_lines × 180 points.
The placement is rejected and the piece goes back to your hand. The ghost squares will show you which placements are valid before you try.
You always have 3 pieces in hand. When you place a piece, your hand refills with a new random piece (no more than 2 of the same type in any hand).
The game ends when none of the 3 pieces in your hand have any legal placement on the board. At that point, you see your final score.
Go to Settings → Sound Effects to toggle sound on or off. When toggled, you’ll hear clicks and pops as you place and clear pieces.
Go to Settings → Haptic Feedback to toggle haptics on or off. When on, you’ll feel vibrations when you interact with the board.
Go to Settings → How to Play to see the onboarding tutorial again at any time.
Tap the menu button (three dots) in the top right and select New Game.
